Buy Home Upgrade 1 only after you can spare 5,000t, 500 Wood and 500 Stone without blocking tools or town repairs. Upgrade 2 adds Iron Ingots, Upgrade 3 adds Silver Ingots, and Upgrade 4 is the late-game jump: 50,000t plus Hard Wood, Refined Stone and Gold Ingots after the Carpenter’s Shop upgrade quest.
The actionable checklist
- 01Keep a protected material reserve for the next upgrade tier.
- 02Do not spend the same wood, stone or ingots needed by an active town repair.
- 03Buy an upgrade when the added room has a clear storage or decorating job.
- 04After the final upgrade, watch for Landen’s letter about exterior customization.
The four upgrade tiers
Farmhouse upgrades take effect immediately at the Carpenter; there is no construction wait.
Upgrade 1: expand the main room
Cost: 5,000t, 500 Wood and 500 Stone. The starting 13×8 room expands to 17×12, making this the cleanest first step when floor space is the real constraint.
Upgrades 2–3: add side rooms
Upgrade 2 costs 15,000t, 500 Wood, 500 Stone and 20 Iron Ingots for a 13×9 left room. Upgrade 3 costs 25,000t, the same wood and stone, plus 20 Silver Ingots for a matching right room.
Upgrade 4: add the second floor
Cost: 50,000t, 200 Hard Wood, 100 Refined Stone and 30 Gold Ingots. It requires the “Upgrade the Carpenter’s Shop” story quest and adds three second-floor rooms accessed by a ladder, stairs or teleportation pad.
Buy at the right time
Space is useful, but progression materials have competing jobs.
Protect active progression
Before paying the Carpenter, reserve the materials for an active story repair and the next tool or equipment upgrade. A larger room should not delay the system that earns its replacement materials.
Give every room a job
Choose storage, crafting access, a trophy gallery or decorating as the room’s purpose before upgrading. This prevents paying for square footage that immediately becomes clutter.
Finish the home in version 1.0
The full upgrade now leads to a visible exterior reward.

Unlock exterior styles
After the Farmhouse is fully upgraded, Landen sends a letter that unlocks exterior-style customization at the Carpenter’s Shop. Check the mailbox rather than assuming the option appears silently.
