Quick answer

Reach Town Rank 10 and complete the Mines unlock quest, then bring a pickaxe, sword, recovery food and as many empty slots as practical. Ladders can appear after breaking rocks or defeating monsters; elevators activate every five floors, and returning to the Ground Floor then re-entering resets the mine floors.

Before you start

The actionable checklist

  1. 01Confirm Town Rank 10 and finish the unlock quest.
  2. 02Carry the pickaxe, sword and recovery food; leave unrelated tools at home.
  3. 03Enter with open inventory slots for ore, artifacts, forage and monster drops.
  4. 04Treat every fifth floor as the day’s main target.
01

Unlock and pack

The first successful run begins before you enter The Narrows.

Know the unlock

The Mines open at Town Rank 10, the Stone milestone, through the story quest “Unlocking The Mines.” Renown comes from museum donations, shipping and quests, so all three early loops contribute.

Pack a lean loadout

The pickaxe opens rocks and the sword handles monsters and breakable containers. Add food for health and stamina, then remove the watering can, hoe and other tools that have no job underground.

02

Descend efficiently

Your first objective is a durable checkpoint, not clearing every tile.

Create ladder chances

A ladder can appear after a rock breaks or a monster dies. The first floor has no monsters, so begin by breaking rocks there; on later floors, choose the lower-cost option based on the room.

Secure elevator floors

Reaching floors 5, 10, 15 and later multiples of five connects them to the Ground Floor elevator. Stop treating side loot as mandatory when health, stamina or time threatens the next checkpoint.

03

Leave with useful value

A run is successful when it improves the next run.

Sort first copies

Reserve new artifacts for the museum and keep enough ore for the upgrade you are actually pursuing. Sell or process duplicates only after those goals are covered.

Understand the reset

Climbing up returns you to the Ground Floor, not the previous floor. Leaving to the Ground Floor and entering again resets the generated floors, while unlocked elevator stops remain available.

Field notes
  • Health reaching zero causes a faint, so recovery food protects progress as well as loot.
  • A rare fountain floor can restore health and stamina once, but do not plan a run around finding one.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I unlock the Mines?

Reach Town Rank 10, the Stone milestone, then complete the story quest “Unlocking The Mines.”

Does the Mines elevator save every floor?

No. It connects the Ground Floor to every fifth floor after you reach that floor for the first time.
