The Deep Woods is a location in Fields of Mistria. It lies north of The Eastern Road.
The staircase leading to The Deep Woods from The Eastern Road is inaccessible until The Player completes Quests story icon.png Story Quest "Breaking The Fire Seal" and is able to remove the thick vines blocking the path.

Connections

Points of Interest

The Grove of Rest

A number of tree mounted grave stones nestled in a clearing. Most are too high up to read but the more recent markers belong to March and Olric's Parents (Jade and Olin) and Hayden's Grandmother (Greta).

There is a small pile of stacked stones near the entry to the grove. Examination of the pile has The Player note that the stones appear to have been deliberately placed. This may be a reference to the real-world practice of building "cairns", stone piles erected to mark places of significance like trail heads, spiritual sites or, most relevant here, grave sites.

The Temple

The path to enter the Deep Forest Temple's courtyard is blocked by a Big Stump, requiring a Copper axe.png Copper Axe or better to clear. Curiously, this stump respawns daily and has to be cleared each time The Player chooses to enter the temple grounds by foot, unlike the similar obstruction blocking the Fp wiki wishing well.png Wishing Well. However it it is also possible for The Player to jump (default is Icon of the space button ( space key ) on PC) over it, again unlike the similar stump in The Narrows.

The Temple courtyard is relatively sparse; Near its main stairs are a small seating area with stone lanterns and a bench, and on the other side of the path is a small garden that Caldarus maintains. Interestingly, this garden will sometimes include seasonal forage plants that would not typically be obtainable without certain Farming perks, perhaps as a nod to Caldarus himself being the source of those skills.

The Temple's interior serves as Caldarus' home while in his human guise, and is modestly furnished. The most notable feature within the Temple interior is a small shrine to Caldarus himself, with coins placed around it as though offerings left in ancient times. This small shrine can teleport The Player back to Fixed stone cal.png Caldarus' Statue on The Farm in exchange for Essence.png 10.
